Short bio

Marta Nemcikova, MSc (specialisation: social work) is a university teacher at the Department of Social and Behavioural Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, UPJS Kosice. She is also an external PhD student at the Trnava University, Trnava, Slovakia. Her primary professional focus is people in older age. Within her PhD thesis focuses on the use of Validation Therapy in a social worker practice. Since 2019 she has been a person responsible for providing social services in a specialized daily social care facility for people with dementia in Kosice. In the years 2017-2018 she was the head of the day care centre for elderly and the person responsible for social service in SED Chmelov. From 2008 to 2010, she worked as a social worker in social care facility for seniors and specialized residential facility at the St. Dominik in Petrovany. As a project manager at Evangelical Diakonia she implemented a bilateral project “Home Care Service – a respond to the needs of the elderly”, supported by SlovakAid, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the SR (2006-2009), aiming at introducing home care services in Serbian Kovacica. She was also responsible for the international project “To be in a community of V4 countries” supported by the International Visegrad Fund (2008).

PhD project title:  Utilizing eco-social and behavioural interventions in preventing the burden of caregivers for people with Alzheimer’s disease
